Uses and Applications

Key applications

  • Ingredient

Industries

  • Oil and Gas

Applications:

  • Used in drilling fluids to increase the density of the fluids, to enhance stability within the wellbore and to minimize formation damage during the drilling process.

  • Applied in oil and gas well cementing activity to modify the properties of the cement slurry and optimize the zonal isolation.

  • Used to control fluid loss, strength development, and to prevent gas migration in cement slurries.

  • Used in oil and gas production systems as a corrosion inhibitor to prevent corrosion of metallic structures and increase equipment durability.

  • Used as a fluid loss control agent in drilling fluids and cement slurries to reduce the loss of fluid to the formation and to ensure wellbore stability.

  • Enhances rate of penetration and decreases the cost of circulation loss.

Packing

Sodium formate is usually sealed in bags or containers to guard against moisture as a result of the storage and transport of the substance.
